Freedom in architecture
Certainty in construction

Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is solid wood engineered into large structural panels.

It lets the architecture flow freely while giving the building strength, precision and stability.

The structure is created for the site and the people living in it.

Behind every KAINUU house is over a decade of CLT manufacturing experience and more than 1,000 completed mass timber buildings.

Houses

CLT makes it possible to leave the structure visible, eliminating many of the layers used in conventional construction. The result is an honest material expression, generous interior spaces and buildings that store carbon for generations.

Because architecture, manufacturing and construction are developed together, every building can be refined from the first sketch to the final element. Our own CLT factory gives us direct control over how the material is used, allowing ambitious architecture to be built with precision and efficiency.

Our houses illustrate the range of what can be achieved with CLT. Some begin as entirely new commissions, while others evolve from earlier KAINUU designs. Every project is adapted to its site, its brief and the people who will use it.

Design and Delivery

A KAINUU house can begin in two ways.

Some projects are designed from the beginning for a specific site, brief and client. Others begin from an existing KAINUU design and are adapted to a new place.

The delivery scope is defined project by project. Depending on the location, schedule and level of completion, KAINUU can deliver the structural frame, an interior-ready building or a complete move-in delivery.

Process

1. Project definition

The site, budget, goals and requirements are clarified together.

2. Design and permit

The architecture is developed together and adapted carefully to the site, budget and technical requirements.

3. Manufacturing
Once

decisions are complete, the CLT structure and components are manufactured using advanced automation technology.

4. Assembly and completion

The frame rises in days, the building is weather-protected quickly, and completion proceeds in a controlled sequence.

KAINUU creates ambitious architecture with the precision of industrial manufacturing.
